R. DARRELL JENKINS - Chief Executive Officer
Darrell is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Phoenix Power Group, Inc. Darrell has overall responsibility for managing the operation of the company along with establishing the strategic direction of the business.

 

Darrell has been active in the power industry for over 45 years starting his career as a tradesmen and advancing to a position in the executive offices. He has previously served as the CEO for DiFazio Power and Electric, Inc. His knowledge of the EPC power generation sector is extremely broad and includes hydroelectric, biomass and gas/oil fired combined cycle and simple cycle generation facilities.

 

The path his career has taken him affords a clear in depth understanding of all aspects of a project and the challenges that may arise. Darrell excels in creative problem solving on complex projects having demonstrated this ability during his tenure in management. His guidance and leadership has resulted in the successful completion of over 20 power generating facilities ranging in sizes up to 400 megawatts.

THOMAS A. BUCHANAN - President

As President of Phoenix Power Group, Tom is responsible for business development and project implementation on all projects that are executed by Phoenix. 

 

Tom has over 40 years of heavy civil and mechanical construction experience and more than 25 years of experience in project development, administration and execution serving the domestic and international EPC markets for power, process, chemical, and environmental projects.

 

Tom has previously served as President of DiFazio Power & Electric that executed numerous projects utilizing gas turbine technology in both combined and simple cycle configurations. Tom also served as Vice President of Project Services for Trigen Energy Corporation managing the engineering and project implementation of Combined Heat & Power Projects along with large scale Chilled Water & Steam Distribution Systems. Tom has also been previously employed by Burns and Roe and Flour Daniel. 

JOHN J. DESENA - Vice President, Engineering & Construction

John is Vice President of Project Engineering and Construction. He has overall responsibility for the operations and management of projects executed by Phoenix along with the development of new opportunities. 

 

John has nearly 20 years of experience with turnkey EPC execution for power generating facilities employing such diverse technologies as gas turbine combined cycle, simple cycle, biomass, solar, and wind. He has been involved in the investment, construction, engineering, asset valuation, market analysis, structuring, and due diligence of large scale power facilities and portfolios.

 

As Vice President and Partner at Abatis and AllCapital private equity funds, John was principally responsible for the financial and commercial structuring of energy investments. He was a Project Manager at Sigma Energy Solutions Inc. (previously known as Duke Engineering & Services) where he managed the engineering design, due diligence and construction of large-scale fossil fueled power and renewable generation facilities.

 

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Manhattan College and a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics from St. John's University. 

ANTHONY B. DECRISTOFARO - Director, Project Management

Anthony is Director of Projects, with responsibility for the commercial and operational success of projects underway at Phoenix. He has over 25 years of experience in power plant design, development and acquisitions. 

Prior to his role as Director of Projects, Anthony held managing positions at firms including Alstom, Areva, Duke Energy, ABB and private equity businesses where he was responsible for project development, engineering, direct equity investment and M&A support.  This background affords him both a contractor’s and an owner’s perspective on project development.  In total, he has been involved in the support of well over 100 power generation (including fossil-fueled, hydropower, solar, biomass and other renewables) and transmission and distribution network development, acquisitions or financings.  In addition, he has performed project management and technical design and studies on power, industrial and commercial projects.

JOHN M. DACOSTA - Director, Business Development

John leads the business development efforts at Phoenix to secure EPC contracts and the sourcing, screening and structuring of potential investment opportunities.  He has served in various leadership capacities as marketing and business development director, engineering manager, principal investor, project manager and consultant in his 35-year career in the power generation industry.

 

John spent nearly five years in principal investing as a senior member of the Power M&A Investment Teams at Abatis Capital and AllCapital as Head of Origination, during which time he sourced and screened hundreds of investment opportunities.  He has served in various leadership capacities at ABB, Duke Energy, Areva and ALSTOM, including Marketing Director, Relationship Manager and Business Development Director for several lines of businesses.  He also served as a Director in the consulting practice at both Duke and Areva, where he managed the technical due diligence of more than 140 energy and infrastructure projects for structured financing and asset/corporate acquisitions globally while concurrently developing several successful new business lines, including renewable energy and water/wastewater consulting platforms. He also served as Regional Manager for two engineering practices while at ABB.

 

John earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York University.
