A Framework for Project Success

A point of pride for our team is the fact that developers with whom we have previously worked see us as trusted partners.  Due to this, Phoenix is often sought out early in project conceptual development to provide opinions and support services. As a result, Phoenix acquires an understanding of partners’ development targets, methods, goals and boundaries and can leverage relationships to bring additional partners and investors to a project when appropriate. 

A key to ensuring successful project execution is the involvement of the construction partner early in the planning process. Phoenix routinely engages with owners/developers at these early stages of project development and conceptual design with the goal of optimizing project design for constructability, essentially acting as an extension to the owner’s capabilities. 

Project Capital Support 

The ability of a partner to respond quickly and competently to the needs of potential clients is a vital key to any project's success. This response has evolved to include not only engineering and construction expertise, but often the ability to provide financing assistance to developers and investors in order to assist in bringing their projects to financial close. 

Members of the Phoenix team have experience as owners, project investors, developers, and M&A advisers, and can offer assistance in project financial and contractual structuring. Phoenix can leverage our significant capability in this space to provide capital support for projects of all types and stages. We have the ability to provide assistance through multiple forms including:

Technology Evaluation and Market Planning

Phoenix principals and our engineering experts can offer consultation services to developers who are seeking to utilize technologies with which they have little familiarity. We can provide guidance on witnessed performance of, and construction issues with, similar technologies and suppliers. This collaboration is not only useful for the development of new stand-alone facilities, but is particularly important where existing systems or facilities are to be integrated into the new equipment.


In addition, by understanding equipment and overall system capabilities and limitations, we can work with developers to establish technical fit for expected facility market or contract participation.

Technical and Commercial Scope Development 

As a valued partner in the design and construction of facilities, we seek to avoid the possibility of unclear or inconsistently defined project scope. As a result of this, we are acutely aware of several areas where scope can be unclear or misinterpreted.


Phoenix often works with developers to lay out a clear and concise scope of work through development of appropriate documents including, at a minimum, a project design basis document and commercial term sheet.

Project Planning, Estimating and Scheduling 

Utilizing our experience and collection of current cost data, Phoenix supports developers who need to further determine project viability through a more detailed analysis of schedule and initial capital costs.   


Whether utilizing comparable project cost and schedule information or developing specific project plans and capital costs, we can provide key project metrics to a developer for establishing a project’s commercial viability.
