NECCO Candy Factory CHP in Revere, MA
As part of the New England Confectionery Company (NECCO) construction of its $100m headquarters and production facility in Revere, Massachusetts, a 6 MW CHP plant was built to provide dedicated power, reduce costs and reduce its emissions of CO2 by 32%.
Construction of the plant provided for a standalone power supply for the NECCO candy manufacturing facility. The project included the installation of two turbine generators, associated pressure vessels, selective catalytic reduction units, heat recovery steam generators, a 600 HP steam generator, cooling towers, heat exchangers, and all system piping, supports, and work platforms.
Adjacent land restrictions limited the footprint of the cogeneration building, thereby requiring a vertical construction scheme within the facility.
